A little bit about us…

Welcome to our Blog about the Iceland Trek for Hft.

On the 12th of July five of us are setting off on a once in a life time five day journey across Iceland, raising money for Hft Sussex.

We will start 150 miles east of Reykjavik, crossing barren lava fields, active volcanoes, giant glaciers and geysers, hot springs and raging rivers while camping in near artic conditions, before ending in Reykjavik. We will be trekking for over 24 hours across the five days!

Hft supports adults with learning disabilities live life on their own terms. The practical help, support and encouragement Hft offer’s gives them a chance to find a bit more enjoyment, comfort and satisfaction in life. It’s about helping people to have the kind of life we might want for ourselves, or our loved ones.

We are aiming to raise £11,700 which will go towards developing a new community allotment site at Hft Sussex, for the benefit of the people we support and the wider community.

Keep an eye on our  blog for more information on the benefits the allotment will provide for the people we support, Hft, our training updates and finally the live feed of our adventure!

If you would like to help us raise the money, please go to our fundraising page at www.doitforcharity.com/PAUL37 – every little helps!

So training for myself has officially started- even had 3 of the people I support get involved to spur me on after dinner this evening! I am going to ache tomorrow after all of those ab crunches, calf raises, and even did some jogging using the Nintendo wii fit! ! It has begun- bring on Iceland! I would also like to say Thank You to everyone who has donated so far- a trip of a lifetime for 2 people we support and I am so excited to be part of their journey.
